The effect of the sun on the skin
The sun is essential to us, it makes us feel good and above all allows us to synthesize vitamin D. But also, in summer, the skin regenerates and must be protected. Of course, using a sunscreen with an SPF index helps protect the skin from the sun’s UV rays, but during this season, you are outside more often. It is therefore exposed to air, sun, wind, water… Make-up is lighter, food too, you have time to make masks or lavish creams and ointments on it. . Maybe you even play sports. In short, your skin changes rhythm, it does it good. Once back from vacation, it is essential to continue to take care of your skin. Indeed, although you have spent the summer pampering it, the sun dries out the skin and thickens it. At the start of the school year, there is therefore the risk of the rebound effect: beware of the dull complexion that replaces the tan, the skin that feels tight, that blushes, or the imperfections that appear.
At first, the skin needs to be protected from the sun by continuing to apply an after-sun cream. This treatment is not only useful when returning from the beach: this cream provides nutrients, hydration and lipids, but also an anti-inflammatory effect. It therefore offers suppleness and comfort to the skin. If you have peeling or cracking skin, especially on more exposed areas of the face such as the nose, increase the applications of after-sun care. This will help replenish the epidermis and prolong the tan.
However, even if after-sun creams help the skin a lot to renew itself, it is especially important to switch very quickly to a moisturizing and nourishing treatment that is truly adapted to your skin type. A weekly moisturizing mask, day cream and night cream may be necessary. It is also better to avoid showers that are too hot and harsh soaps and treatments: think instead of bringing a mild soap with a neutral pH or downright ultra nourishing. Depending on the needs of your skin, you can opt for surgras soaps in case of sensitive skin, serums, shower oils, or milks rich in vitamins, minerals and trace elements. If you hesitate, you can turn with your eyes closed, or almost, to treatments with shea butter and sweet almond oil.
Exfoliate skin to prevent blemishes
Of course, everyone would like to maintain a nice even tan throughout the year. But once back from vacation, even if it is possible to extend it, you must also think about the health of the skin. However, since the sun thickens the skin during the summer, when the season ends, the risk is to see imperfections, blackheads and other pimples appear. To avoid this, it is therefore necessary to moisturize and nourish the skin, but for the care to be even more effective, it is good to rid it of dead cells and other impurities encrusted in the pores. For this, nothing better than a gentle exfoliation, so as not to attack the epidermis: in summer, it must be very light otherwise the skin risks thickening further to protect itself. For the driest and most robust parts of the body such as the elbows, knees, heels or thighs, it is possible to end the shower with a circular massage with a horsehair glove or a kessa glove, with black soap: nothing better to believe for a moment in a hammam. But when it comes to the face, it’s a whole different story: it’s a very sensitive part, so a very gentle and nourishing exfoliation with apricot seed chips is more recommended.
